Another pleasing winter for farmers so far

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Rural News | Thursday July 26 2012 11:57

So far, it's been another pleasing winter for Otago farmers.

Warm temperatures, and minimal frosts and rain, have been a feature of the region's winter to date.

Otago Federated Farmers vice-president Mike Lord says he couldn't have asked for much more a third of the way through the season.

He says the 'pleasantly dry' conditions have put farmers in a good position to have a strong spring if things continue to go their way.

Mr Lord says if bad weather is to come, he hopes it arrives in a short burst before carving gets fully underway next week.
