Today's rainfall not enough for farmers

By: Grayson Ottaway | Latest Rural News | Monday February 4 2013 17:39

A Federated Farmers provincial president says the rain that has been falling around New Zealand today isn't really helping.

Bay of Plenty's John Scrimgeour says because of the weeks of dry weather, pasture is now very dry and very bare for a lot of farmers.

He says the small amounts of rain has damped the dust, but until there is enough rain to really wet the ground and maintain soil moisture levels, there's no long term benefit.
