Kiwifruit orchards in Katikati are the latest to see signs of the spread of Psa.
Until now orchards in the area have escaped widespread Psa infections, and owners hope they'll not be as badly hit as the Te Puke area.
Orchard manager Craig Thompson says although it was fairly inevitable Psa would arrive eventually, they've been fighting to keep it out.
"We started spraying our orchards before we even had the Psa around us and started putting in biosecurity measures. We started that before we had the infection whereas Te Puke started that after they had the infection."
Mr Thompson says orchardists now have the option of grafting a new variety of the fruit, and he hopes the spread of Psa will slow down.
