PM apologses for calling Turei 'barking mad'

| Latest Political News | Thursday September 20 2012 7:38

The Prime Minister has had to withdraw and apologise for describing Metiria Turei as barking mad.

John Key took offence at her criticism of his government, given it's spending billions on welfare.

It came in Parliament yesterday when the Green Party co-leader asked if National would support her private member's bill for a universal child payment.

"She argues that we have people that are well off, then she wants to give the same millionaires yet more money to raise their kids - she is barking mad," Mr Key had said.
