Confidence from Govt on water rights court action

By: Barry Soper | Latest Political News | Wednesday October 24 2012 18:48

Prime Minister John Key is confident of getting an early court result from the water rights issue.

A hearing date in the High Court's been set down for November 26 and the Government has said it could go all the way through to the Supreme Court.

But Mr Key says that doesn't necessarily mean the Court of Appeal will have to consider the case.

"I think there is provision within the law to have leave to go from a decision made by the High Court to go straight through to the Supreme Court, I think we can actually do that. Whether we would want to do that is something the attorney will want to consider."
