Largest Act donor wanted end to Maori special treament

The man who gave more than anyone else to the Act Party's campaign says he did it because he wants to end special treatment for Maori.

The New Zealand Herald reports Louis Crimp put more than $125,000 into Act's coffers for last year's election campaign.

The multimillionaire businessman says he was inspired by Dr Brash's Orewa speech in 2004.

He says he supported Act because he thought Don Brash would go along the way for Maori to be treated as equal New Zealanders.
