Treasury gets 'do better next time' message

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Friday June 1 2012 12:35

Treasury is getting a do better next time message from their political masters.

Parliament's Finance and Expenditure Committee has reported back on the Auditor General's evaluation of Treasury's handling of the Retail Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

The majority of the committee considers Treasury coped well in difficult circumstances but believes the department should have implemented control and reporting mechanisms quicker than it did.

The committee says in this, Treasury should have done better.

Labour and New Zealand First MPs are calling for a full independent inquiry into Treasury's actions
