Govt's response to Tribunal due out today

By: Katie Bradford-Crozier | Latest Political News | Monday September 3 2012 5:16

The Government's much anticipated response to the Waitangi Tribunal report on the Maori Council water rights claim is due out today.

The Prime Minister's promised to consider the report, which recommended halting the asset sale process while the claim was further investigated, in good faith.

At the same time, John Key's standing firm on the partial sale of Mighty River Power, saying last week it's full steam ahead.

A halt to that process would be embarrassing for the Government, which has based much of its economic recovery and political credibility on the move.

Mr Key's response is expected late this afternoon.
