Greens release ACC rehabilitation plan

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Sunday June 17 2012 18:07

A rehabilitation plan designed to bring ACC back on track has been released today by the Green Party.

Health spokesman Kevin Hague says the step-by-step plan sets out key action points to bring about a much-needed culture change.

It includes reviewing the legislation and recent activities by ACC, as well as bringing in systemic changes to deal with security on sensitive claims information, retraining front line staff, and bringing medical information back to a level of high priority in decision making.

Mr Hague says ACC needs to return to its original purpose.

He says he's set out key activities that must be carried out over the next 100 days.

It shifts the corporation from a profit driven model to one providing the level of care New Zealanders should expect to receive from now on.

Mr Hague is inviting acting ACC chair Paula Rebstock to follow the plan.
