PM's trip to Myanmar going ahead

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Monday November 12 2012 17:22

The Prime Minister's trip to Myanmar is to go ahead despite the country suffering a major earthquake.

Myanmar experienced a 6.8 magnitude quake over the weekend with a dozen people reported as being killed .

John Key is due to visit Myanmar next week where he'll meet with President Thein Sein and Opposition Leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

His office says the trip will still take place as the areas the Prime Minister is visiting are away from the earthquake-affected region.
