Four meetings have been held by the Ministerial Committee on Poverty since it was established this year as part of the deal between National and the Maori Party. Tariana Turia says clear priorities have been laid out to reduce poverty and improve the lives of low income Kiwis and their families. She says addressing poverty will take collaborative and innovative solutions across all ministerial areas, particularly in education, employment and training and safe, healthy homes. The committee this week met with the Expert Advisory Group on Child Poverty, which will release a report on the issue in the next few weeks. Photo: NZ Herald |
