NZ on track with trade negotiations

By: Nina Burton | Latest Political News | Monday September 10 2012 7:38

There's reassurance New Zealand is on track with trade negotiations.

APEC is over for another year, with even the Prime Minister saying no obvious progress was made.

But Trade Minister Tim Groser says it pays to look at the big picture.

He says New Zealand has come a long way, and overall, every APEC summit does count for something.

"30 years ago we had nothing - not even a free trade area with Australia. We've now got that, we've got free trade area with China, we've got one with Hong Kong. Well on the way to getting one with Chinese Taipei."

Mr Groser says no one meeting is ever decisive.
