Justice reform a big issue for Labour

| Latest Political News | Saturday April 14 2012 15:01

The Labour Party is looking at justice reform ahead of the next election.

The party wants more robust systems in place which treat all New Zealanders fairly.

Labour's justice spokesman Charles Chauvel says they'll be looking into wrongful conviction.

"Historically New Zealand had a low rate of wrongful convictions but I think everybody agrees that one is one too many and we need to have systems in place that fit there with the issues satisfactorily."

Mr Chauvel says it's important New Zealanders trust the justice system, and Labour hopes to increase that level of trust.
