Mergers result in Internal Affairs personnel costs

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Wednesday October 31 2012 11:26

Departmental mergers have resulted in a huge rise in personnel costs at the Department of Internal Affairs.

The department's annual report reveals the amount the organisation spent rose by over $33 million between the 2011 and 2012 financial years.

In total, the department's personnel costs last year were almost $170 million.

A spokesman says the increase is due to the National Library, Archives New Zealand, the office of the Chief Information Officer, and the Office of the Community and Voluntary sector being integrated into the department of Internal Affairs last year.
