Kiwi hip-hop heavyweight King Kapisi is among those competing for a spot on the Internet Party list today.
Twenty two candidate hopefuls will debate policy and take part in a Q and A session before an audience of around 400, at Auckland's Q Theatre.
Party chief executive Vikram Kumar says it's exciting that King Kapisi - otherwise known as 40-year-old Bill Urale - has put his hand up.
"And it just shows the kind of diversity and interest that the Internet Party is managing to get from people who are either not connected to politics at all or have some interest but have no avenue to really engage with."
Kumar says he hopes things will get a bit heated in the debate.
"Because that's the reality of politics. But there's also a lot of fun, there's also a lot of comedy and satire. It's the combination of some really serious work, it's just doing it in a nice, relaxed, fun way."
