John Key is on the third leg of his sweep through four South American countries. He has arrived in Chile, and says his visit is about raising the awareness of businesses looking for opportunities in a market which is not well known to them. "The reason we came is really just to say 'look, there are opportunities here, this is a fast-growing part of the world.' "It's not as well known to us as Asia, but New Zealand companies should at least think about it." Mr Key says there are plenty of opportunities for New Zealand companies to work alongside South American businesses. "If you take Fonterra as an example, they are the largest milk buyer in Chile now. "There is nothing over time to stop Fonterra doing exactly the same type of thing in a place like Colombia, and potentially exporting that product to China."
