A round of meetings about the Government's plans to tighten up on loan sharks begins today. Consumer Affairs Minister Simon Bridges will meet with community and industry groups in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch this week. The planned changes will see the biggest overhaul of consumer credit laws in over a decade and will require more disclosure of loan terms, make it illegal to lend money to someone who would find it too hard to make repayments and tighten up rules around misleading or confusing advertising. People have until May 25 to comment on the proposals. Photo: NZ Herald |
