Greens demand OCR cut

A cut in the Official Cash Rate is being demanded by the Green Party.

Reserve Bank Governor Graeme Wheeler is to make an announcement on the OCR tomorrow morning.

Green Party co-leader Russel Norman says the rate must be lowered to take pressure off the exchange rate and protect jobs in the export and manufacturing sectors.

He says the Reserve Bank Governor can't sit on his hands while a runaway dollar leads to job losses and reduces the competitiveness of our exports.
