Green MP Kevin Hague has been congratulated on the length of his same-sex relationship.
The comments have come from a submitter opposed to proposed legislation that could allow same-sex marriage.
Submitter Charles Southward says research shows gay male relationships are shorter than traditional heterosexual marriages, and they have more partners.
"I am aware, of course, that Mr Hague has expressed in Parliament that he and his partner have been together for 28 years, and that's quite remarkable in light of this report's information."
