Maintaining a car could soon be a lot cheaper

By: Katie Bradford-Crozier | Latest Political News | Wednesday September 19 2012 11:31

It could soon be a lot cheaper to own a car.

Associate Transport Minister Simon Bridges will today be releasing proposals for an overhaul of the warrant of fitness, registration and licensing systems.

The document suggests a range of proposals for changing the frequency of warrant of fitness, including following Queensland's lead and only carrying it out when there's a change of ownership.

The systems are decades old and the Government's decided it's time to move with technology and look at new options that can save households, businesses and government money.

From today, people will have a chance to have their say on the proposals.
