Banks' vote the difference - Norman

Political self interest is being seen as the reason John Key is backing ACT leader John Banks.

Opposition parties want Mr Banks sacked from his role as Small Business Minister, saying police files indicate he misled the public and the Prime Minister about donations during his campaign for the Auckland mayoralty.

Greens co-leader Russel Norman says John Banks is the 61st vote John Key needs to progress his policy agenda.

"That's why they're sticking John Banks so closely to themselves because they want his vote, even though obviously what John Banks has done is completely unacceptable behaviour."
