Security being monitored ahead of Bali memorial

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Thursday October 11 2012 10:57

Authorities in Bali are in high alert after terrorist threats ahead of Friday's memorial service, marking 10 years since the Bali bombings.

Our Foreign Minister Murray McCully will stand alongside Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, opposition leader Tony Abbott and former Prime Minister John Howard at the memorial service.

The nightclub bombings in 2002 killed over 200 people.

Mr McCully is in Malaysia ahead of his visit to Bali, and his Ministry says it's closely monitoring the security situation in Indonesia.

It says there is "some risk" to security in Indonesia and advises any Kiwis travelling to the area, including Bali, to exercise a high degree of caution.
