Trade Minister Tim Groser's bid to become the next head of the World Trade Organisation is over.
Mr Groser's withdrawn from the race after not receiving enough support from the WTO's 159 member countries.
He'd made it into the last five.
Candidates from Mexico and Brazil are now set to battle it out for the job which will be decided by the end of this month.
Mr Groser's bid began in December and in the first three months of this year he spent just on 250 thousand dollars in air travel drumming up support.
The last and only Kiwi to hold the job was Mike Moore.
