Action plan for Maori unveiled

By: Barry Soper | Latest Political News | Monday November 19 2012 19:14

A strategy and action plan through to 2040 has been unveiled by the Government and the Maori Party.

A Maori unit will be set up in the new Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and a Maori economic advisory board will be established to ensure Maori under-performance is addressed.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce says improvement will occur when the private sector works with the public.

Mr Joyce says private sector organisations, both Maori and non-Maori, will be encouraged to work together to lift income and improve export performance.
