PM met with more than just Sky City

By: Katie Bradford-Crozier | Latest Political News | Wednesday April 18 2012 17:29

The Prime Minister says he met with a number of groups about bidding for the tender for Auckland's convention centre - not just Sky City.

John Key has reiterated this week that he approached Sky City to come up with a deal.

Speaking in Singapore, he says it's been a very transparent process and denies claims the Government is selling the law to allow the casino operator a relaxation of gaming laws.

"All I know is I met with a number of different parties, it wasn't just Sky City. As Minister of Tourism I've been quite clear that I want to see a convention centre built in Auckland. It's critically important in terms of visitor nights, in terms of jobs. The Government isn't that keen to put its own resources in."
