Royal Commission petition knocked back

| Latest Political News | Monday September 24 2012 9:03

Efforts to get a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board have been knocked back.

The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Federation has petitioned Parliament calling for the step to be taken amidst concerns about the board's operation.

However Parliament's Social Service Committee's not agreed to the request.

It says the issues raised have already been investigated by the Auditor General in 2010 and recommendations for change were made.

The committee says those changes are due to be further reviewed next year.
