PM asked to investigate insulation dilemma

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Sunday September 9 2012 7:54

Labour wants the Prime Minister to look into allegations one of his MPs has refused to insulate his rental property.

Mt Wellington tenant Joshua Tuitupou says his landlord, list MP Dr Jian Yang has told him he'll have to get a Community Services Card before he insulates the house.

That way, Dr Yang will qualify for a two and a half thousand dollar subsidy.

Labour's housing spokeswoman Annette King has written to the Prime Minister.

"I said to Mr Key that on the face of it, he needs to investigate. It does seem to be an issue of ethics, in which case it reflects on all of us, if it's not cleared up."

Annette King says MPs have to be seen to be toeing the line.
