Govt panned by Labour for not bailing out Solid Energy

| Latest Political News | Tuesday September 25 2012 18:12

The Government is being panned by Labour for not bailing out Solid Energy.

Major layoffs are on the cards for the SOE.

The Government has turned down a request by the miners and their union for a multi-million dollar cash injection so it can forestall redundancies

Labour MP Damien O'Connor says the Government's wiped its hands of any responsibility and it knows full well the miners aren't to blame for Solid Energy's situation.

"There is case that the men put up that deserves further scrutiny. I think the minister and the governor have made a hasty decision on this and they'll regret it."
