An Independent review is to be held into the way Child Youth and Family handle complaints against the organisation. Minister of Social Development Paula Bennett made the the announcement in Rotorua today. Former Police Commissioner Howard Broad will lead the review. Paul Bennett says it will look at whether there's enough separation between the complaints board and CYFS. "And they do have an independent board that oversees complaints, so they do have that system there now, but we need to have a look at whether it is as independent as it should be."
