The Prime Minister will overnight meet with the NATO Secretary-General in Brussels where the deteriorating situation in Syria's expected to be discussed.
John Key says the massacres in that country of innocent civilians shows clearly there needs to be a regime change.
Mr Key spent the river pageant for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on a boat with British Foreign Secretary William Hague where he says Syria was discussed.
"There's certainly a lot of diplomacy going on behind the scenes. William Hague's given me a sense of the foreign ministers he's been talking to and the pressure he's trying to put on but it's not an easy one to resolve."
