Public hearings on electoral system next week

By: Alexia Russell | Latest Political News | Wednesday April 18 2012 12:05

Public hearings will begin next week on proposed changes to the electoral system.

They'll be taking place in the main centres.

Chief Electoral Officer Robert Peden says nearly 3000 written and online submissions have already been made on the MMP review, and that's in addition to the 150 submissions the public hearings will cover.

He says anyone is welcome to attend, and a full schedule will be available on on www.mmpreview.org.nz later this week.

Written submissions to the MMP review close on May 31.
