The president of the Philippines arrives in New Zealand today.
Benigno Aquino lands in Auckland around midday for a two day visit, which will involve discussions about trade.
Philippines Solidarity Network of Aotearoa secretary, Murray Horton, hopes John Key will also raise the issue of human rights in the Philippines.
He says when the last president visited in 2007, Helen Clark raised the issue and got some positive results.
Mr Horton says Filipinos are leaving their country in droves because of high unemployment, and the lack of a welfare system.
