The Navy made $50,000 redundancy payments to two officers it subsequently rehired. The Defence Force came in for intense criticism earlier this year when it revealed at a Parliamentary hearing it had to rehire two officers it'd laid off as part of ongoing cuts to military expenses and budgets.
