Navy officers paid redundancy then rehired

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Wednesday April 18 2012 11:38

The Navy made $50,000 redundancy payments to two officers it subsequently rehired.

The Defence Force came in for intense criticism earlier this year when it revealed at a Parliamentary hearing it had to rehire two officers it'd laid off as part of ongoing cuts to military expenses and budgets.

Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman has revealed the redundancy payments in response to questions about the move's expense from the opposition.
