Back down on Family Court rates proposal

By: Lesley Deverall | Latest Political News | Tuesday October 9 2012 16:42

A back down over proposed user charge rates for the Family Court.

Under revised law changes released today the Government's now looking at setting the user charge at $50, rather than the $100 originally proposed

Justice Minister Judith Collins says the changes have been made based on feedback, but also because she felt the original Bill was too blunt.

"I was very concerned that women in particular, in relationship break-ups, are often the people who don't have an income (and) would be very unfairly disadvantaged."
