Honeymoon over for John Key - political editor

By: Alexia Russell | Latest Political News | Tuesday September 25 2012 8:19

Water rights, job losses, and now the debacle over the Kim Dotcom case.

The honeymoon's well and truly over for John Key.

Newstalk ZB's political editor Barry Soper says the government should have seen the water issue coming, but couldn't have done much about the slew of redundancies that's hit us - that's more about the cheap Asian market and the high New Zealand dollar.

He says the pressure will come on today as laid-off South Island miners march on Parliament.

Barry Soper says the lay offs are a big concern to the government, but again, virtually beyond its control.

It just has to hunker down and hope the global economic situation improves.
