Government official involved in 'foul up' seconded to GCSB

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Monday October 1 2012 15:49

A senior Government official involved in an honours foul up earlier this year has been seconded to the GCSB.

Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Kitteridge is to act as the GCSB's associate director for three months and will undertake a review of the agency's performance and operation.

Earlier this year Ms Kitteridge was part of the team overseeing the Queens Birthday Honours list.

Newstalk ZB discovered the list had been put online ahead of the official honours announcements and it was hastily taken down.

And the Prime Minister's cracking the whip over the GCSB.

Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Kitteridge has been appointed associate director of the agency and is to lead a full review of its activities in the aftermath of its Dotcom spying blunder

John Key says it's a follow up to what he said would happen last week.

"A thorough review of what they're doing, their processes, their procedures, and make sure that we tighten up. Simple facts of life are, GCSB made some pretty bad mistakes when it came to this Kim Dotcom case."
