Privacy problems 'nothing new' - Key

By: Felix Mariwck | Latest Political News | Tuesday October 30 2012 8:59

The Prime Minister's adamant privacy problems within Government departments are nothing new.

This year ACC, the Ministry of Social Development, and now Inland Revenue, have been in the spotlight for privacy failures and wrongly disclosing peoples' personal details.

John Key says while the problems are taken seriously, if anyone thinks they're a new phenomenon then they're deluding themselves.

He says these issues will have been there over the past 15 years, it's just they've become the issue de jour at the moment so every breach gets mentioned.
