Greens slam special payment to Mighty River Power boss

By: Newstalk ZB Staff | Latest Political News | Tuesday October 23 2012 18:37

A $500,000 special payment to Mighty River Power boss Doug Heffernan is being slammed by the Greens.

The energy company is first in line to have up to 49 percent of it sold off by the Government early next year.

Its annual report reveals Mr Heffernan will get the bonus at the end of next year, just for staying with the company.

Greens co-leader Russel Norman thinks it's outrageous.

"So it will be consumers who end up paying more as a result of this payment to Mr Heffernan, they're the ones who are going to pay even though they're opposed to the privatisation process."
