Super ministry job losses drawing political fire

| Latest Political News | Tuesday April 24 2012 17:52

News the Government-planned super ministry merger could cost 130 jobs is drawing political fire.

The Government's rough estimates are that 55 people will be laid off and over 80 current vacant positions won't be filled in the creation of the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.

Labour MP David Cunliffe's critical of projected job losses saying it'll simply mean there are fewer people to serve the public.

He says it's ironic a move supposedly designed to create growth and jobs is beginning by cutting around 130 positions.
