Parliament security prepares for hikoi

| Latest Political News | Friday May 4 2012 11:26

Security is being tightened at Parliament in preparation for protesters later today.

An anti-land and anti-asset sales hikoi is due to arrive at Parliament's grounds around midday today.

Marchers have been on the move for around a week and a half across the North Island promoting their message.

Supporters have hoped for thousands to join their cause, however fewer than 100 attended a rally at Porirua earlier this week and it's unclear just how many will arrive at Parliament.

Meanwhile police are closing several main streets in Wellington to facilitate today's march.
