NZ pokie machine numbers continue to decline

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Friday October 26 2012 14:26

The number of pokie machines in the country is continuing to fall.

Figures from the Gambling Commission reveals as of the end of June there were 1400 gaming machine venues and 17,943 gaming machines in the country.

That's down from 1,421 operators and 18,309 machines recorded the previous year.

It's also far fewer than the over 25,000 gaming machines that were in place nine years ago.
