Labour up in arms about economy's state

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Political News | Friday April 13 2012 10:20

Fewer tourists, less spending, flat business investment and warnings of a double dip recession all have Labour up in arms about the state of our economy.

A range of statistics and data out this week show financially, the country is struggling to grow.

Labour's economic development spokesman David Cunliffe says the picture nationwide is pretty grim, well below what the government forecasted before the election.

"The chickens will come home to roost on budget day because it is likely tax receipts will be down and therefore further cuts will be necessary if the Government is going to try and make it supposedly all important budget surplus in the next financial year."
