Greens' members bills defeated

| Latest Political News | Thursday December 6 2012 5:40

A bad night at the office for the co-leaders of the Greens last night, as they each had a member's bill defeated in parliament.

Metiria Turei wanted to force casinos to forfeit any money gained as the result of criminal activity, filling what she called an important gap.

"It's justified because families and communities and businesses should not have to feed casino profits day after day after day."

Russel Norman wanted to force the New Zealand Superannuation Fund to invest in a way that's sustainable.

"The fund would need to consider sustainability, and in particular climate change, when making its investments."

Labour MP Rino Tirikatene's bill to protect the rights of young workers was also defeated.
