Govt accused of overriding public's rights

The Government's being accused of riding roughshod over the public's democratic rights.

It comes as a parliamentary committee is due to report back on asset sales legislation a month earlier than expected, a move that allows the Bill to get back onto Parliament's agenda much sooner

Labour leader David Shearer's damning the fast tracking saying the Government has no wish to listen to the views of New Zealanders, be they ordinary members of the public or experts in their field.

He says the Government simply wants to rush the legislation through as soon as possible.
