Key refutes allegations in Dotcom case

The Prime Minister's refuting opposition allegations he should have signed off on interception warrants used by the GCSB.

The spy agency faces a formal investigation after it was revealed it illegally spied on people connected to the Megaupload case.

John Key says he's not required to approve all interception warrants sought by the GCSB.

"There are certain examples where a ministerial warrant is required but in terms of individuals they are not. When it is a New Zealand resident and that's when SIS undertake the activities."
