Calls for Govt to tighten up on donations

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Wednesday May 2 2012 19:22

The Greens are urging the Government to take on a bill that will tighten rules around local body elections and campaign donations, following the John Banks/Kim Dotcom saga.

Co-leader Metiria Turei says if the Government was serious about addressing the problems raised around anonymous donations in local government elections, it'd adopt her bill.

She says there's a need for tighter rules as the current set up has allowed Mr Banks to stretch the line of ethical behaviour.
