MPs given dozens of free RWC tickets

By: Felix Marwick | Latest Political News | Wednesday May 23 2012 15:59

Labour Leader David Shearer looks to have watched a lot of free rugby at last year's Rugby World Cup.

The just released MPs register of pecuniary interests shows Mr Shearer was given a dozen tickets for last year's tournament covering events from the opening ceremony through to the final.

He accepted hospitality from Telecom, the Eden Park trust, SkyCity, the New Zealand Rugby Union, Vector, and Sky TV.

Mr Shearer's not alone in accepting free tickets to the World Cup, the register shows 48 MPs in total did so.
