Willis to have special supporter in London

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Wednesday August 1 2012 9:11

Another special moment for our flag bearer and medal hopeful Nick Willis.

Air New Zealand and Newstalk ZB are granting his aunty Gill Willis' wish to fly to the Olympics to watch his 1500m run.

Nick Willis explains why it means so much.

"After my mum died of cancer when I was a kid, Gill really took over that role as the mother in my life and she was the only one who made me shower once a week and learn how to brush my teeth and all that sort of stuff. I wouldn't be here today without her," he told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking.

Gill Willis is a teacher and thought she shouldn't go because of her students, but she says they're all telling her "go Miss, go Miss".
