Calls for return of NZ-Argentina direct flights

By: Natasha Burling | New Zealand News | Thursday August 30 2012 7:05

Air New Zealand is being urged to consider flying direct between Auckland and Buenos Aires.

Aerolineas Argentinas stopped direct flights between the Argentine capital and Auckland at the start of last month.

Air New Zealand is taking a charter flight there next month for the All Blacks test against Argentina.

Argentinean ex-pat Juan Guiraldes hopes the airline will decide to fly the route permanently to pick up where other airlines left off.

"And it's all a bit of a mess. They haven't made it easy for us let's put it like that. It'd be great if it was different but who knows."

Mr Guiraldes says it's now much more expensive and time-consuming to fly between New Zealand and Argentina, since the direct flights were cut.
