By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Friday August 24 2012 16:03

Defence Force staff were called to Christchurch Hospital today after live ammunition was found on one of the soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Unexpended ammunition was found in one of the soldiers' personal protection kits.

The Defence Force says the items were subsequently made safe by Explosive Ordinance Disposal staff

A spokesman says the Defence Force will be investigating the sequence of events and processes that took place in repatriating deceased back to NZ.
